Dwelings Santa Clara Convent

As a result of the health, social and economic crisis caused by the global pandemic of COVID-19, the number of people living in poverty in Catalonia has increased. This situation has aggravated the problem of access to housing in many municipalities. For this reason, at Calaf Grup, we wanted to collaborate in the project of the Santa Clara Convent Foundation with the increase of the social flats located in the capital of Bages.

Sor Lucía Caram manages the Santa Clara Convent Foundation, located in Manresa. In its commitment to people’s dignity, the Foundation will add eight social rental flats to the 26 it currently manages. At Calaf Grup, we feel closely linked to our territory, this is why we wanted to contribute with our extensive experience in the sector to take charge of the rehabilitation of these flats located in the municipality of Manresa.

From Calaf Grup, through Calaf Constructora and Serom, together with Constructora del Cardoner, we have joined forces to give the best of us and make these flats ready as soon as possible. Calaf Constructora is a company in the construction sector, with more than fifty years of experience in building, rehabilitation and civil works. On the other hand, Serom is a committed and modern construction company, with a wide experience in all our areas of activity, especially in building, services/comprehensive maintenance works, restorations and rehabilitation.

The project is the result of an agreement signed with Sareb, a private entity that sells loans and properties acquired from entities in crisis. The Fundación Internacional de la Mujer Emprendedora (FIDEM) has compromised to pay the rent for the flats during one year.

Currently, the Santa Clara Convent Foundation helps more than 2,000 families in the municipality of Manresa and has provided housing for 113 people, plus the next 30 people who will live in the flats we have rehabilitated and which have already been assigned. We are very proud to have been able to materialise this collaboration with the project of Sor Lucía Caram. At Calaf Grup, we feel committed to our territory and for this reason, we are always grateful to collaborate with entities and foundations in social or environmental projects in central Catalonia.

“It is clear that if we all sum up: we multiply results” Sor Lucia Caram
