Capabilities and methodologies

At CALAF Constructora, we understand that building differently requires knowledge, methodology, and an open mind to change. Therefore, we work by combining technical capability and trust, innovation, and collaboration to transform each project into an opportunity to do things better.

Our capabilities are not just resources or tools, but a way of working: rigorous, efficient, and committed to the future. Our work systems allow us to anticipate, optimize, and build with greater value: from a powerful in-house technical department to the incorporation of methodologies such as industrialized construction or LEAN Construction. All of this with a clear purpose: to contribute to more sustainable, efficient, and collaborative construction.

Because building better is possible if we do it from within and from the outset.

At CALAF Constructora, we believe that anticipation, innovation, and technical capability are key to ensuring projects are developed with maximum efficiency and sustainability.

The Engineering and Technical Office Department has a team of over 20 technicians who support projects through all their phases: from the initial conception of the project to the completion of the work, gathering experiences along the way that help us learn and improve.

Throughout this journey, we design, propose different solutions, project more sustainable structures, integrate geometries, and work on process improvement. Ultimately, we support the project and contribute to a more industrialized construction, geared towards modern times, remaining faithful to our purpose: We build differently to change the society we live in.

Our 5 areas of specialization are:

• Structures
• BIM Design
• On-Site Project Monitoring
• Topography
• Innovation + Knowledge Management

At CALAF, we incorporate the LEAN Construction philosophy as the foundation of our work system. We are committed to more efficient, predictable, and collaborative construction, focusing on shared planning, continuous improvement, and waste elimination.

This approach allows us to generate more value with fewer resources, better adapt to changes, and reduce schedule and budget deviations. Above all, it enables us to work in a more collaborative and transparent manner with all parties involved in the project.

We apply specific LEAN tools to optimize both the planning phase and on-site execution:

• Last Planner System (LPS) – A collaborative planning system that allows for better work management.

• Just in Time (JIT) – Supply of materials and resources at the exact moment to avoid excess inventory.

• 5S – An organization and order method to improve efficiency and safety.

• BIM (Building Information Modeling) – Digital modeling to improve planning and reduce errors.

• Big Room – The Big Room is a collaborative space where all project stakeholders work together to improve communication and expedite decisions.

• Pull meetings are collaborative sessions in Lean Construction where teams plan work in reverse, from the final result backward, to optimize flows and eliminate interruptions.

At CALAF, we are firmly committed to industrialized construction as the most efficient, safe, and sustainable model to address the current challenges of the sector. This methodology allows us to shorten lead times, minimize on-site contingencies, and improve the final quality of projects.

We possess the internal capabilities to apply industrialized systems thanks to our sister company, CALAF Industrial, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of industrialized construction solutions.

Their technical knowledge and production capacity enable us to:

  • Prefabricate structural and finishing elements in controlled environments
  • Easily integrate these components on-site, improving the overall efficiency of the project
  • Develop tailored solutions for each type of project

This cross-cutting approach between CALAF Constructora and CALAF Industrial ensures fluid coordination between design, manufacturing, and execution, providing high added value to our clients.

At CALAF Constructora, we understand innovation as a key tool for building better: more efficiently, more sustainably, and providing more value to our projects and clients.

We are committed to applied innovation, aimed at improving construction processes, optimizing resource use, and incorporating advanced technical solutions on-site. We explore new ways of building that allow us to reduce environmental impact, increase productivity, and ensure higher and consistent quality.

We Drive Innovation from Within

We foster an innovative culture among our teams, where each person can contribute to transforming how we do things. We have an internal Innovation Committee, shared with the other companies in the group, which gathers proposals, studies feasibility, and promotes initiatives that can generate real value on-site.

R&D Projects and Collaborations

We actively participate in collaborative R&D projects, both our own and in consortium, with technology centers, other companies in the sector, and institutions. This networking allows us to stay at the forefront and incorporate emerging technologies, materials, and construction methodologies.

With this vision, at CALAF Constructora, we put innovation at the service of a more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready construction model.

At CALAF Constructora, we understand collaboration as much more than a contractual formula: it is a way of working that permeates our approach from the very beginning of each project.

We work with the conviction that the best work results from the sum of experience, knowledge, and commitment among all involved parties: client, designer, site management, construction teams, and suppliers. This vision leads us to foster collaborative, transparent, and aligned work environments with the common objectives of the project.

Collaboration that Begins from the Very First Moment

We get involved from the initial phases to provide technical insight, optimize solutions, and help make more informed decisions. When the project allows, we opt for collaborative contracting models (such as IPD or allied variants), where risks and benefits are shared equitably, and joint work becomes a real added value.

Networking and Cross-Functional Teams

Internally, we foster cross-functional work teams that combine talent from production, the technical office, and engineering to ensure agile and efficient execution. Externally, we promote a fluid and trust-based relationship with all project stakeholders.

With this attitude, we aim to contribute to a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable construction model, where collaboration is the norm, not the exception.
