The Automotive Professional Training Center of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Martorell and the rehabilitation of the Gothic palaces Nadal and Marqués de Lió in the new headquarters of the Museum of World Cultures in Barcelona were finalists in the Catalonia Construction Awards, held on June 30th in the Encants de Barcelona. The Automotive Training Centre was a finalist in the category of Innovation in Construction. The building is characterized by the incorporation of acoustic and climatic criteria that differentiate it from other similar constructions. The system of the double skin main facade has been designed from the solution of a car manufacturing, which apart from solving thermal and health requirements also responds to acoustic conditioning. The rehabilitation of the Museum of Cultures has been a finalist in the category of Integrated Project Management. The processing and execution of the work in a period of 23 months and with a tight and limited budget, together with the difficulty of having to intervene in buildings from the medieval period with a major intervention of rehabilitation and restoration, has been a major challenge.
