Heritage restoration in an iconic Barcelona site

CALAF Constructora has been involved in the conservation and enhancement of Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. The intervention has combined technical rigor with absolute respect for the symbolic and architectural value of this emblematic site in the city of Barcelona.

The project included five main interventions: the enhancement of the Sarva Fountain, the improvement of access to the cistern beneath the Hypostyle Hall, the restoration of the ‘trencadís’ mosaic of the Nature Square bench, the rehabilitation of the white ‘trencadís’ mosaic of the Hypostyle Hall domes, and the reconstruction of the stone railings of the lower viaduct.

This rehabilitation has been carried out ensuring the authenticity of the original materials and techniques, such as ‘trencadís’, and with a clear commitment to preserving the memory and functionality of one of Europe’s most visited parks.
