Architecture that blends with the landscape to bring to life the organic olive oil of Les Garrigues
El Trull CV is an organic olive oil mill located in the Cuadrat Valley, in Les Garrigues, designed with the aim of producing the highest quality olive oil while preserving the traditional agricultural landscape. The project is based on integration with the environment: 90% of the 17-meter building is semi-buried, blending with the landscape following the model of the olive grove agricultural terraces. The vegetated roofs with native flora and olive trees restore the landscape, making the building disappear into the topography.
The only visible volume is the reception pavilion, a light and organic structure situated among rock formations that offers 360º panoramic views and serves as a welcoming and tasting point.
The materiality responds to criteria of sustainability and proximity: the walls have been constructed with stone extracted from the excavation itself, as has the soil for the green roofs. The exposed rock provides thermal inertia, maintaining a stable temperature of 18 °C throughout the year and minimizing the need for active air conditioning.
The result is a building that combines innovation and tradition, energy efficiency and territorial rootedness, creating a unique experience that unites architecture, landscape, and high gastronomy.
